yesterday i got some more news from our dossier specialist. remember how in august, she told us that we were the last of 8 families waiting for visas this year? well, we were initially told that the next group would go into the ministry after the august group came out. however, the news from our specialist yesterday was that a smaller group of 3 families were allowed to be submitted to the ministry at the end of august before the first group got out. does this all make sense?
this means that we are now a part of the 5 remaining families (and yes, 5th out of 5 if we're counting). we now have to wait for the group that went into the ministry at the end of august to be processed and out before the next group can move forward.
honestly, i don't know what this means. i don't know if the fact that the ministry took a second, smaller group concurrently means that the government is trying to move forward quickly, or if it means that we are now delayed even further because now we have to wait for this second group to be processed, versus being lumped together in a larger group with all 8 final families.
what do you think? am i even making sense right now?
grrrrrr.
my heart is hoping it's good news, but my head is saying maybe not...
next week is chuseok, the korean thanksgiving. and i am hoping and fervently praying that our baby will be home by our american thanksgiving.

Oh goodness, I so remember getting vague news like this from my social worker (it was kind of her specialty!) and parsing every word and thinking does this mean X (good) or does it mean Y (bad) and just agonizing over it. Do you know if/how you'll be able to find out what it means? My agency never knew anything about the Korean side of the paperwork but I know other agencies do so I'm hoping you are with one that can find out more info from Korea!! Thinking about you Grace. The uncertainty is so painful, I know. I think you're now on AdoptTalk, right? So maybe those wonderful ladies can also help you figure things out??
ReplyDeleteIt seems to me that Korea is trying to hurry up the process since they let three in before the others were released. I hope this is good news for you!
ReplyDeleteI completely understand your anxiousness about this part of the process. Unfortunatly we are on the other side of the visa quota and have to wait until January to be processed. I've been extremely interested in hearing how quickly things move. I hope they move fast for you!
Kelly, what is the AdoptTalk page you mentioned? I'd love to read more...
oh wow. my head would be spinning right now too if I were you. I am going to be super positive and say this just has to be good news. It just HAS to be!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI so don't understand this part of the process at all, but i do understand the need/want to dissect anything and everything. Hang in there!!! I'm going to be an optimist and think this a good thing. A very good thing.
ReplyDeleteI'm confused too. But if they let more then the normal amount of families in before the end of August then my brain is saying that's a good thing and they are pushing. I'm going to stay positive just like everyone else. I think the more positive thoughts the better!
ReplyDeleteOh Grace..I'm praying that this is good news for you...I'm praying that since you'll probably be in the last batch for 2010, they will just try to get things moving as quickly as possible! Adopt talk is good for following along with EP submissions! Glad you're on it!
ReplyDeleteHi Grace so confusing, but it sounds like good news to me. My daughter still has not heard one word from her agency sounds like yours is pretty good about letting you know somethings. They are told nothing.Still would love to talk to you sometime via phone, I have so many questions about your agency. I am praying for good things for you and Choi-boy.debolson25@yahoo.com
ReplyDeleteIt's so hard to hear news like that and not know how to take it. I'm hoping and praying that it's good news for you!
ReplyDeleteHow frustrating Grace! I hope this means this is good and Choi boy will be home soon!!!
ReplyDeleteI have not been sure what to make of this either. I am hoping it is good news and they move the rest of you through quickly.
ReplyDeleteWaiting is so hard.
I remember analyzing every shred of information to death and still never knowing what it meant. I hope this is good news for you. I hope your boy can come home soon.
ReplyDeleteI wish I could decipher it for you. It's tough at this stage of the game and trying to figure out what it all means. Either way, I think you're getting close.
ReplyDeleteWow...that is really confusing information! Hopefully it is good news!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness! Such vague info! Praying for EP submission and approval SOON!
ReplyDeleteUgh, Grace...my heart goes out to you. I remember those days. Grasping on to any sort of infomration you can get and then analyzing the heck out of it. Spending so much time wondering, wishing...
ReplyDeleteI just pray that things go more quickly for you guys so that you can hold that beautiful boy!
Looks like you have so many pulling for you, your family, and little Choi boy...hang in there.
Kristin
I don't understand the process and never will. I finally had to stop trying to figure out because I was almost to the point of losing it. I hope it's good news!
ReplyDeleteI'm going to assume it's good news for you, because that's what I'm really really hoping for. And because I'm a glass half full kind of person, so I'll share some of my half-full with you. Of course that might make me only quarter full now that I've given you some of my half-full, but oh well. So I say good news. At least I'm crossing fingers and toes for you that it will be good news.
ReplyDeleteGrace- We are in the same boat!! Maybe that means that we will meet in Seoul! Praying that you get some good news soon.
ReplyDeleteGRRR is right! it is so frustrating trying to figure out what each little change in the process means for your wait. Its hard enough to wait when you have a concrete timeline; it becomes so difficult when you have no idea what to expect and every little piece of news results in hours of obessively trying to determine how it will impact you.
ReplyDeleteI hope it means they are trying to speed things up and decrease the wait times...mostly I hope you get some definitive answers soon, even though they are rare in the world of waiting :(
Oh, I hated vague news like this when we were waiting for Briar (we got caught in an EP mess, too, just not quota related)!!!! It's frustrating to try to figure out what the information you've been given means and whether it's good, indifferent or bad. I hope you get some solid answers soon and that this news you did DOES mean good things ahead!
ReplyDeleteOh Grace, this waiting part of the process sucks! I hate this for you, and I am hoping and praying you get good news soon!
ReplyDeleteI hope it's good news. You have been so patient during this process. I hope your boy comes home soon!
ReplyDeleteDespite all the vague info we APs receive during the process...I'm an optimist...and think this is good news. Hang in there!!
ReplyDeleteGrrr, this kind of thing is just.SO.stinkin' hard. The unknown is rough....but just remember that every day that passes DOES put you one day closer to your sweet baby! Thinking of you.
