whatnot wednesday.

EveryDaytheWonderfulHappens

happy wednesday!

*wanna know a secret? i'm actually writing this on TUESday and then scheduling it to post on wednesday. so sneaky. ;) it makes me feel like i'm on top of things and gives me a sense of accomplishment. you know what else gives me a serious sense of accomplishment? having an empty g00gle reader. i had to play some serious catch up on my blog reading this week and i was actually feeling a bit of anxiety seeing the numbers climb into the triple digits in my reader! phew!

*i have a bit of an obsessive personality when it comes to certain things. i am guilty as charged when it comes to playing out songs and listening to them on repeat until i can't listen anymore. in eighth grade, i pretty much wore out my cassette tape single of ace 0f base's "the sign" because i played it again and again. and again. and then my friends and i went to great adventure and sang it in one of those mini recording studios. we were so cool. and then we played *that* tape again and again. and again. and then the song was dead to us. until recently when it came up on my glee pandora station...now i love it again!

*anyway, i say all that because i tend to be obsessive with certain foods, too. i'll get on a kick and consume copious amounts of a certain food (usually snack food) until i get really sick of it. case in point: mini eggs. i think i'll be okay if i don't see another one until next easter. (so sorry, jojo, now i'm REALLY done talking about them, promise!) and now i've moved on to this:
Photobucket
it's only the best cereal ever. or at least until i've had enough. care to venture a guess as to how many boxes it will be until then?

*you know how everyone thinks their child is a genius? mine really is.
no, seriously.
you know how i know? look what i found in choi boy's bookshelf:
Photobucket
he found it in the office and put it in his bookshelf all by himself. he's just catching up on some light reading on leadership. you know, all part of his plan to take over the world.
oh, but don't worry.
apparently, it will be a soulful takeover.

*another one of choi boy's favorite reads is this recordable book we sent over to korea in a care package.
Photobucket
cb's sweet, sweet foster mom sent it back home with him and cb's recently rediscovered it. but here's the thing. while he was in korea, he played with it so much, it broke. and the recording is a bit wonky now and goes off on its own. so, we'll be going about our day at home when suddenly i'll hear voices coming from cb's room, which freaks me out to begin with, but then as i head upstairs to investigate, i hear that it's MY voice and get REALLY freaked out. and then i realize what it is and feel silly, but still kinda freaked out. ::shudder::

*i'll leave you with this...in addition to being on je0pardy, one of my dreams in life is to be in a flashmob. like, a really good one. that would be SO super fun. and i think the best flashmob would be one that did double dream hands. kinda like ellen's staff did for her birthday show, but even bigger. and better. that would be SO awesome.
and if you're not familiar with "double dream hands," please, please watch this gem. john just makes me smile and i love his over-the-top enthusiasm. my absolute fave is his freestyle. it's like the modified carlton! i know that he became an internet sensation because everyone was making fun of him, but elementary school choruses need crazy cheesy choreographers, too, right? ;) and besides, he hasn't let the mocking get him down.
so, giggle along and learn yourself some double dream hands. and then let me know you've learned it and we'll plan that flashmob.

so, who's in??

c'mon and join the whatnot wednesday fun and link up with elizabeth!

  1. I'm on to ya! I am reading and commenting at the ungodly hour of 7am bc I just flew red eye to ur coast...and couldn't believe any momma would be up at 6 posting. Anywhoo, we barely got hstk and I already bought our recordable hallmark book but it's titled something like I love you always and forever. I haven't opened it to read it bc i get teary eyed just looking at it thinking someday my future child will hear his future families voice on it. Glad to see cb cherishes it so much. Did u both read it aloud? In Korean too?

I have had my share of exorbitant oatmeal square consumption. Puffins are good too but not as good. :)

  3. I hadn't seen that video before, but love that guy! He's really selling it. Have you seen the ad where the guy starts the flash mob, then gets a text that it moved to 30 mins later? It's hysterical!
I'll allow that one more mention of eggs :) And I will add that we have that cereal on my counter right now, delish!

  4. I don't think I'd have the balls to consume that many mini eggs. Knowing me, that would be the one thing I'd never get sick of. I'd be eating them until next Easter...

  5. We have that cereal here too! Yummy in my tummy. ;-)

You know I'm a flash mob addict, right?!

And the recordable book going off randomly?! That's how my friend ended up with 6 police people at her house one night. When things randomly start "talking" in the middle of the night, you tend to think "intruder" not "toy." :-)

  6. I've seen double dream hands and I love that guy. I too, dream of being in a flashmob, not that I have any dancing abilities. Loving that CB's worldly takeover will be a soulful one.
Also, I wore out my Ace of Base CD--only difference is I was a junior in high school! The one I wore out the most though, was the single "linger" by the Cranberries!

  7. We have been eating that cereal for years...and still love it...so don't plan on getting sick of it any time soon. I also love the cinnamon version and the maple/brown sugar version too. Yummo! D calls it "Mama cereal". That is right...but I DO share. It is just as good as a snack as it is for breakfast.

Flash mobs rule...I would love to be in one too...hey, why don't we get all us blog ladies together and do one...that wouldn't be TOO hard or anything. ??

So...is there really a Glee channel on Pandora or did you create one using your faves? I have only seen bits & pieces of the show here & there...I know...I am a loser. Each time I turn it on (not really so much anymore) my DH rolls his eyes and it somehow gets vetoed and we end up watching something like Deadliest Catch. Hmmmm.

  9. Oh. My. GOD!!! That guy with his super-white teeth just made my day. My favorite parts? "Rock out now!" and "point your hand over there!" Tee heeee! OH, and the "freestyle" section. Eeek! And no he di-int do the butterfly. oh no.

And I'm officially in platonic love with you... my BF in high school and I did one of those record-your-own-songs-in-a-booth at Six Flags every year for like 4 years. Mega dorks. I think we did "Under the Bridge" by the Red Hot Chili Peppers and some Beach Boys song, among other winners. Like I said... we were super awesome.

And Quaker Oatmeal Squares are totally the best cereal ever. EVAH!

  11. So much to comment on, Grace. I get on food kicks as well. I am NOT a morning person, but I found this vanilla almond cereal at the bulk section of the grocery store and was literally excited to get up in the morning so I could eat it. That time has now passed, but I totally get what you were saying. Love the idea of a recordable book to put in my C's care package. Will have to add it to my things to do. Also, want to be in a flash mob so.much!

  13. You're so hilarious! That's all I've gotta say after this one. You make me smile. And your posts always give the impression that you have OVER THE TOP energy. Where the heck does it all come from? Tell the truth, is it the oatmeal squares? Cuz I'll go get me some. Right now.

  14. Tee hee...Ace of Base. Yep, the SINGLE. I had it too. I mean, why buy the whole tape when you only know THAT song and would have to RW and FF for "The Sign..." That rules.

P.S. Love. love. love the new blog look!

  16. So many funny things here, but I LOVE double dream hands!! Hilarious, and thank-you for the intense laugh! Your new header is beautiful too. (Oh - and those oatmeal squares look delish! Did you know that there's a lot of cereal that is only sold in the US, not in Canada? Grrr...Not sure about this one, but I'll check.)

  17. Totally with you on the empty google reader. I'm the same way - actually worse - about an empty email inbox. Such a great feeling!

  18. Two things. One, I'm so depressed you were obsessed with The Sign in MIDDLE SCHOOL. Know where I was when I was rockin' out to Ace of Base? In dance clubs in Europe because I was studying abroad my JUNIOR YEAR IN COLLEGE!!! Dude, I feel ancient. Two, that video just about killed me. Max came to watch but quickly gave me a look like "aren't you embarrassed for that loser?" and walked away. He's too cool for school, that kid. But I kept watching. My favorite part is the underhand crank. Sa-weet moves.

PS - My good friend was in an AWESOME flash mob in San Francisco and I was kinda jealous.

  19. Hello from ICLW. That is a great cereal. For a snack sometimes I mix it with popcorn, craisins, and a few dark chocolate chips.

  20. I once borrowed the CD single for "The River of Dreams" by Billy Joel, played it on repeat on my boombox and recorded it on one side of a cassette tape. Then I turned the tape over and recorded the song on repeat on the other side. Then I forced my family to listen to that tape on a trip to Pennsylvania. They kept asking "isn't there ANYTHING else on this tape???" :)

  21. We have the same cereal in our cupboard! It is tasty, but I have to wait forever to eat it after I pour the milk so that it will soften. That video is hilarious. I had never seen it. Thanks for sharing! I agree totally about emptying your Reader. I practically went into cardiac arrest when I returned from vacation last fall and had over 200 blog entries to review. Yikes! It took me awhile to catch up.

why, hello there! do you have something to say? 'cause i'd so love to hear it!
