whatnot wednesday.

EveryDaytheWonderfulHappens

*i cannot not talk about the royal wedding! kate's dress was ABsolutely gorgeous and i am just so happy for her and william. they just seem so normal, right? anyway, the wedding. two things i need to mention.
the first.
what the *heck* was up with this?!
(source)
was the goal to look like a giant weird present? crazy.

and second.
i was so incredibly impressed by how orderly and gentle the british crowd was. there was no pushing, no shoving, no *touching*, really. and they just calmly walked behind the row of police officers (or constables or bobbies, if you will) once they opened up the gates to the palace for the kiss. amazing! i am almost certain that if the crowd was made up of americans, we'd be all up in each other's personal space and the police officers would be facing the crowd and walking backwards while wielding those giant SWAT shields at us. just sayin'.

*one of my life goals is to be on jeopardy. i think i know enough (mostly useless) trivia to do mildly well. or rather, at least well enough to make it to final jeopardy without being in the red. especially if one of the categories is something to do with entertainment fluff. i am really sad i missed qualifying for the jeopardy teacher's tournament this week! that could have been me! really, though, i want be on celebrity jeopardy. 'cause it's clearly easier than every other jeopardy game. more specifically, i want to be on celebrity jeopardy with will ferrell as alex trebek and darrell hammond as sean connery. :)

*since choi boy is not yet 2 years-old, he's still discovering a lot about the world and can take things i say at face value (well, as much as he can understand). for example, the chocolate i'm eating that he's pointing at? i can just say "ugh, it's gross! you don't want any!" and he'll usually believe me. ;) yesterday, we were at the farm and there was a carousel. instead of being a super fun, super cool nice mommy and getting him on the carousel, i said something like, "wow! look at the horses going 'round and 'round! it's so fun to *watch*!"
and choi boy thought so, too.

see? he's doing his "oh-wah!"

yes, i realize i'm pretty much lying to my child, but i'm fully aware that this will only work for a little longer, and i'm going to take advantage of it while i can. ;)
and now i feel terrible about lying to my child. but only kinda. no really, i'll start telling him the truth. tomorrow. ;)

*a short whatnot open letter:
dear j.crew,
you need to get over yourself. i love you dearly and your spring/summer line makes me drool. and all i want to do is roll around in your merchandise and take one of everything in every color, but girrrrrrrrrl, you are not worth *that* much! seriously, a t-shirt should not cost $50. on sale.
thank you.

*and finally, please head on over to my (pretend) BFF's website. my (pretend) BFF, the pioneer woman, is doing an awesome "giveaway" where the "prizes" are four $500 donations to a charity of the winner's choice. AND she will donate a quarter for every entry to help with the relief efforts of the devastation in alabama. win-win. it's a wonderful way to contribute to relief efforts even if you can't make a donation yourself. win-win-WIN!

c'mon out and join the whatnot wednesday party with elizabeth!

  3. Oh...and next time, take me to the farm with you...I will take poor Carson on the carousel, and blow your cover!!! muahahaha!

  4. Um... the whole "chocolate tastes nasty" thing? We call it the Sucker Syndrome at our house. And enjoy it while you can. Because now that they've had a taste of it, the girls will claw our eyes out to get whatever we're eating.
Oooh... and a friend of mine just made the first cut to be a contestant on Jeopardy! I so hope he makes it!!!

  5. Take heart--Isaac still thinks the ice cream truck is a music truck...like they're selling mp3s outta that bad boy.

  6. I agree...those hats were right out of Dr. Seuss! I cannot decide if I love that hat or hate it. Either way, it certainly doesn't look comfy. No.thanks.

I think you should try to get on Wheel Of Fortune. A friend of mine got on there and was AWESOME. She has a very outgoing personality and you seem to also (I know...I'm pretty perceptive like that), so I'm sure you'd get picked. But...yes...Jeopardy rocks too.

Keep up the lying while you can...we parents have to do it while we can get away with it, right?

  7. It's not really lying... it's just delaying the truth for their own good! That's what I tell myself!

Thanks for the link to the pioneer woman's giveaway. I went to her site and got lost for 30 minutes in dessert recipes! I had to go back later to donate! :)

  8. I so love your Whatnot Wednesday posts, Grace. I have to admit, though...at times, it is scary...kinda' like reading my own brain!

Oh...and I call telling your kid chocolate is "gross" outsmarting the kid. Seriously, I never thought I'd be outsmarted by an almost two year old and, I am embarassed to say, it happens often! So, we have to take what we can get!

    Enjoy the chocolates!

  9. Doesn't that "hat" look like it belongs in a Dr. Seuss movie?! Ack! What was she thinking?

  10. I would love to be in any room with Will Ferrell! And the PW can't be your BF cause she's my BF:)

  11. Since Parker know about the food now, I just eat in the pantry...sad I know :)

  12. yeah, totally agree about the hats. super crazy....and i even used to be a major hat gal back in the day!
love that jcrew, but i'm not paying that much for a tee either...especially when it's tissue thin!
ohhh, and i lie to noah all the time. it all started with him wanting to taste my soda, so i told him he couldn't have it because of the caffeine. so now whenever i don't want him to eat a certain thing, that too suddenly has caffeine! works like a charm. :)

  13. The wedding was perfection and totally worth the hype. I'm wearing a fascinator to my next wedding...ok not really, but I REALLY want to. Maybe J Crew can make one? I'm such a JCrew girl, but I know the prices are getting a bit to cra-zy.

  14. Totally on board with everything you said. Except the merry-go-round thing. I think I was more excited than the boys to ride it the first time, but I'm kind of dorky like that!

  15. um. I love you. is it weird that I think this blog makes our sister bond stronger because I think you're really really funny? yeah.
I look forward to your wednesday posts! they rule!!! (oh if you didn't know, rule, ruling, rulingest, are back...just as hip and rad are. just tryna keep you young and un-square)

  16. this made me laugh. esp the part about the lying momma . even read it out to the husband haha. love your posts girl.

  17. JCrew and I broke up a couple of years ago when they no longer made things that could fit both my waist and hips. :-(

And the carousel?! Uhm, yeah. We watch too unless someone else is around to ride it. They make me feel *so* sick!

  18. I couldn't get over some of the hats too. That one was the most ridiculous!! I'd love to see you on Jeopardy - you'd kick butt at the game and I know you would be entertaining too:)

    ReplyDelete
  19. Don't get me started on those hats. I mean, all I can say is I HOPE they were all being ironic about those bad boys, right? They could NOT be seriously thinking they looked good. I kinda thought all the attention they got from their outrageous hats (or "fascinators," apparently) seemed to suggest they wanted everyone to look at them instead of the beautiful bride who was ONLY wearing a bunch diamonds on a tiara. Ahem. It was entertaining though. OK, you did get me started ...

    ReplyDelete
  20. We miss you! Maybe when we get back the boys can ride the carousel.

    ReplyDelete
  21. I'm behind on my blogging! But I'd love to see you on jeopardy one day. And don't lie to CB - just let him know that the carousel is fun to look at it - of course it is, all those colors. And toys are fun in the store - we can go look at them as a special treat, and sometimes they come to our house at birthday and Christmas (oh, that's what I convinced my kids). The chocolate, well, it's not good for him, so justifiable....? :)

  22. Whatever possessed both of those princesses to wear those hideous hats is beyond me. I almost wonder if they did it purely for entertainment/attention. Nobody would actually think they look good, right?!

    ReplyDelete
  23. I love Will Ferrell as Alex Trebek. Absolutely hilarious. You need to keep trying to get on that show!! I want to see it happen.

    ReplyDelete
  24. oh SNL jeopardy! i love it too! and yes, your not being truthful days with cb are numbered :). hee hee!

and that HAT! so ridiculous. i can't stop looking at it. it's so weird. but i am in agreement that the dress was gorgeous and so was the bride.

why, hello there! do you have something to say? 'cause i'd so love to hear it!
