this and that.

happy new year, friends! i hope your 2012 is off to a fabulous and blessed start! :)

i still need to post about our first family day celebration, but i really want to put together a slideshow and somehow, being on break did not motivate me as much (or at all) as i thought it would...happens every time! ;) i'm giving myself til the end of the week...so we'll see if there'll actually be a slideshow at all. ha!

anyway, here are some tidbits and happenings that i meant to blog about, but never got around to...so here they are smushed into one long post. apologies. for the length and the randomness that is about to go down.

in december, we went to two different light shows.

the first was a light show/winter carnival and we went with our future in-laws. thankfully, the kiddos are at the age when they are just as happy to watch instead of do.

goodness, i hope that stage lasts a while longer. $5 per person to ride a ferris wheel?? no thank you.

but really, the kids were really very excited to take in the sights -- want to see photos of two very enthralled kiddos and one chill infant wondering what's going on?

the wide-eyed stares and open mouth gape crack me up.

the adults were more jazzed about this:

and this:

why, yes, that is a foot-long corn dog. and yes, it is just as marvelous and disgusting as it sounds. :)

my college friend, rosette, came into town and we headed to zoo lights, which was mostly kinda lame, but free, so there's that.

choi boy did enjoy the train set up, though.

a lot.
there's that open-mouth gape again! (and some snot, too, apparently.)

oh, and there was this, too.

mischief maker at his best. sigh.

we had a little christmas get-together with some AP friends, and though i didn't get any pictures (too busy keeping track of a certain someone!), shawna sent me some great ones of gabe and cb. and i was bored, so i did this:

the guy hug and release cracks me up!

cb got another haircut, though i'm not sure how i feel about this one.

i'm not actually sure what he thinks about this one, either.
he also startled me a bit with his freakishly good memory by replying to my "do you want to get a haircut?" with "and watch dora and eat lollipop?"
hi. the last time we went to cartoon cuts was JULY. and he didn't even know who dora was then! he somehow remembered watching dora and then processed who it was, even though he only recently started naming her. children's brains amaze me.

my bosom friend (what's up, anne of green gable fans!), sylvia, came by for a visit, too.

love that girl. she made my sophomore-senior years in college SO fun. :)

we spent nap time doing an improptu mani sesh:

(instagram friends, sorry for shoving my glittery nails in your faces AGAIN.)
we also vegged out and laughed over hilarious blogs and lots and lots of youtube videos like we usually end up doing...have you seen this one or this one? i die.

the hubs and i rang in the new year with our great friends while our little miracle babies slept soundly upstairs.

somehow, i ended up taking pictures of only the food we ate.

don't worry, we kept it classy:

those would be loaded chilli cheese fries. that were inhaled.

we did manage to stay up and toast to the new year together:

new year's day is one of my favorite holidays because it's one of the few holidays where our family really incorporates korean traditions by doing saebae and eating ddukgook. love it.

cb donned his hanbok (the one his foster mom bought him for his first birthday -- it still fits!) and practiced his "새해 복 많이 받으세요"

and when it came time to actually do saebae, cb was so good, he was lightning fast.

:)

tomorrow brings us back to our "normal." which i'm actually quite thankful for. not gonna lie, this week was a bit tough. between all the holiday excitement and extra attention our boy had showered on him by our family, cb has come to the rude awakening that not every day is a holiday and that he can't always get what he wants. life lessons, i tell you. it will be really good for him to get back into his routine and hang out with his buddies at "school." oh, and he's also managed to perfect the art of tantrum throwing. in public. epic. love him like crazycakes, but dude can scream.

other than that, our 2012 is off to a great start!

no, really! :)

happy work week, friends!
