a year ago today, we counted and double checked our bags,
(and our living room has never looked so clean and uncluttered since...)
headed to the airport,
(where my momma worked her magic with the airlines and managed to secure our seats in a row of three where the third seat was not booked -- holla!)
and boarded a big blue plane.
destination: seoul, south korea.
mission: picking up our son!
i remember us being so super duper out-of-control excited but trying our best to get some rest before a)having our days and nights completely flip flopped with the time change and b)picking up a toddler that would surely add to the flip flopping! we managed to sleep a bit, but korean airlines is so stinkin' fabulous, we were up watching movies and tv shows and enjoying the plentiful yummy, yummy food that kept coming our way. :)
complimentary wine? on a 15 hour flight? why, yes, please!
4 movies, 2 naps, 1 book, and a 13-hour time difference later, we began our descent down to the land of the morning calm.
we touched down and got our first real glimpse of korean soil, from where our families and choi boy had come. after ten long months of waiting, it was incredible to know that we were in the same country, the same city as our boy.
we deplaned, and headed off to meet my aunt, ready to {finally} start this new adventure!
notice how much grosser and more exhausted we look as compared to our pre-flight picture. was it a foreshadowing of the decline in our youthful looks after becoming parents?
absolutely.
did we care?
not really. :)
up next, reliving the day we met our son!
