zoobilee zoo!

anyone else remember that show? i loooved it!

thank you so much for your sweet comments and suggestions on my last post. they were extremely helpful and i so appreciate your thoughtfulness and well-wishes throughout this transition. i am sure it will be a work in progress, but it is wonderful to know that others have been there and survived, and that still others are sending us lots of hugs. thank you.

on monday, as a last hurrah of sorts, we took a family outing to the zoo.

the day started off a bit rainy, but it cleared up and the weather was perfect for walking around outside -- like april 23rd; not too warm and not too cold, all we needed were light jackets! (quick! name that movie!)

unfortunately, a lot of the zoo residents thought it was still too cold to hang out outside, so we didn't get to see too many animals out and about. but, choi boy had a great time and was delighted to see the animals that managed to make it out.

like the sloth bear:

cb happily munched on his snack, watching the bear, and randomly shouting out "beh! beh!"

we also saw a panda who was playing hide and seek:

and some orangutans playing tag:

the prairie dogs were popping in and out of their holes:

and the cute lion cubs were tackling each other:

we made a stop at the kids' farm area, where cb was happy to see all his farm animal BFFs.

i'm pretty sure he was yelling at the goats in this picture.

our last stop was the small mammal house where choi boy played peekaboo with the merekats and yelled at the lemurs. i only got a pic of one of the small mammals, though.

it was this guy, who was giving me a dirty look for taking so many pictures of him.

;)

though we didn't get to see cb's beloved elephants, we will certainly be back again soon -- the best part of "our" zoo is that it's FREE!!!

cb fell asleep in the car on the way home and after he woke up from his nap, he was busy playing and turned over his le@pfrog musical table. we wondered what he was doing and saw this:

is it crazy for me to think he was building his own zoo??!!

Photobucket
probably.

but that's my story, and i'm stickin' to it.

  1. I am SO jealous that you guys have a panda at your zoo!!!
And yes, I have VERY vivid memories of Zoobilee Zoo. I was babysitting a little boy named Charlie at that point in my life and he watched that ridiculous show every.dang.morning. I can still sing the theme song. Sad, right?

  4. Looks like a lot of fun! Daniel also has a major crush on elephants specifically. Guess they are pretty cool (?)...all the best as you go back to school. Yea, it sucks, but at least we teachers have the summer to look forward to, right?!

  8. Grace,

What a great way to spend some time as a fam before you return to work. Looks like CB loves. loves. loves. the zoo. He is sure a creative little man for re-enacting it all at home!

    And his eyes?...seriously.

  10. I definitely think CB was busy at work tending to the animals in the zoo. You are lucky you have a great, free zoo nearby. Looks like fun!

Visiting the zoo never gets old for us! Yours has a panda! Very cool. Si always looks forward to the elephants and camels. CB is SO cute and chill in his stroller.

  14. I must be too old to remember Zoobilee Zoo (how said is that?)!

I agree...definitely some zoo making going on there at home...inspired by all he saw on your zoo trip. YAY! Smart boy!

D loves the zoo too. We have two zoos nearby...one free & one not. We go to both (are members at the non-free one...which makes it much more economical...so we can go lots!).

D enjoyed these photos and kept asking me who CB was. I think he wants a meet & greet! ;-)

  18. Love the photos of CB enjoying the (FREE!!!??) zoo! I have to say I was anti-zoo before Max (couldn't stop thinking about how all the animals were stuck in cages, etc.) But now? I love it. So fun to watch the wonder on our kids' faces when they see all the awesome animals :) Maybe we'll hit the zoo today - lucky for us our (non-free) zoo is just a few blocks away!
