anyone else remember that show? i loooved it!
thank you so much for your sweet comments and suggestions on my last post. they were extremely helpful and i so appreciate your thoughtfulness and well-wishes throughout this transition. i am sure it will be a work in progress, but it is wonderful to know that others have been there and survived, and that still others are sending us lots of hugs. thank you.
on monday, as a last hurrah of sorts, we took a family outing to the zoo.
the day started off a bit rainy, but it cleared up and the weather was perfect for walking around outside -- like april 23rd; not too warm and not too cold, all we needed were light jackets! (quick! name that movie!)
unfortunately, a lot of the zoo residents thought it was still too cold to hang out outside, so we didn't get to see too many animals out and about. but, choi boy had a great time and was delighted to see the animals that managed to make it out.
like the sloth bear:
cb happily munched on his snack, watching the bear, and randomly shouting out "beh! beh!"
we also saw a panda who was playing hide and seek:
and some orangutans playing tag:
the prairie dogs were popping in and out of their holes:
and the cute lion cubs were tackling each other:
we made a stop at the kids' farm area, where cb was happy to see all his farm animal BFFs.
i'm pretty sure he was yelling at the goats in this picture.
our last stop was the small mammal house where choi boy played peekaboo with the merekats and yelled at the lemurs. i only got a pic of one of the small mammals, though.
it was this guy, who was giving me a dirty look for taking so many pictures of him.
;)
though we didn't get to see cb's beloved elephants, we will certainly be back again soon -- the best part of "our" zoo is that it's FREE!!!
cb fell asleep in the car on the way home and after he woke up from his nap, he was busy playing and turned over his le@pfrog musical table. we wondered what he was doing and saw this:
is it crazy for me to think he was building his own zoo??!!
probably.
but that's my story, and i'm stickin' to it.

I am SO jealous that you guys have a panda at your zoo!!!
ReplyDeleteAnd yes, I have VERY vivid memories of Zoobilee Zoo. I was babysitting a little boy named Charlie at that point in my life and he watched that ridiculous show every.dang.morning. I can still sing the theme song. Sad, right?
Fun trip! Yes, I remeber Ben Verean being the narrator, he came to a benefit at the last hospital a worked at to skea about his addiction...I wanted to ask him about the zoo..I did not :)
ReplyDeleteI love that close up picture of CB!! And of course, he was making his own zoo--he is a genius!!!!
ReplyDeleteLooks like a lot of fun! Daniel also has a major crush on elephants specifically. Guess they are pretty cool (?)...all the best as you go back to school. Yea, it sucks, but at least we teachers have the summer to look forward to, right?!
ReplyDeleteomg. i LOVED zoobilee zoo! i can't believe other people remember it! my sister and i talk about it all the time. no one here knows what we are talking about!
ReplyDeletecb is just fabulous.
ben and i used to love going to the zoo in st. louis. it was huge and free! here in atl, it's sad and not free. going to the zoo with little ones makes it sooo much more fun!
ReplyDeleteSo much fun! I love the picture of the two of you. You not only have matching clothes, but your expressions match too!
ReplyDeleteAnd yes, CB was totally playing zoo!
Grace,
ReplyDeleteWhat a great way to spend some time as a fam before you return to work. Looks like CB loves. loves. loves. the zoo. He is sure a creative little man for re-enacting it all at home!
And his eyes?...seriously.
What a great last hurrah! And of course CB was building his own zoo. He's just that smart! Btw, Joel has that hoodie, too. LOVE it!
ReplyDeleteI definitely think CB was busy at work tending to the animals in the zoo. You are lucky you have a great, free zoo nearby. Looks like fun!
ReplyDeletewow! a FREE zoo?!!! lucky you guys! and i agree totally....cb is definitely making his own zoo in those shots. :)
ReplyDelete"Zoobilee zoo zoobilee zoo, magic and wonder are waiting for you!" Definitely one of my childhood favs!
ReplyDeleteVisiting the zoo never gets old for us! Yours has a panda! Very cool. Si always looks forward to the elephants and camels. CB is SO cute and chill in his stroller.
Praying for you this week as you go back to work. What a huge change for everyone, but you can do it!! Thinking of you!
How cute he was down there making his own zoo!
ReplyDeleteI must be too old to remember Zoobilee Zoo (how said is that?)!
ReplyDeleteI agree...definitely some zoo making going on there at home...inspired by all he saw on your zoo trip. YAY! Smart boy!
D loves the zoo too. We have two zoos nearby...one free & one not. We go to both (are members at the non-free one...which makes it much more economical...so we can go lots!).
D enjoyed these photos and kept asking me who CB was. I think he wants a meet & greet! ;-)
Oh man - we LOVE the zoo too... but I think you already knew that. I gotta say... that "dirty look" photo is AWESOME. :-)
ReplyDeleteAnd I don't think you are crazy at all - I think CB was building a zoo too!
oh the zoo! we are definitely fans! it looks like cb is too - that is, if his momma's not taking too many photos of him ;). hee hee! so glad you enjoyed the day. now let's have some more of that beautiful light jacket weather!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to go to the zoo this year! And so sweet with little C building his own zoo... a zoologist in the making!
ReplyDeleteLove the photos of CB enjoying the (FREE!!!??) zoo! I have to say I was anti-zoo before Max (couldn't stop thinking about how all the animals were stuck in cages, etc.) But now? I love it. So fun to watch the wonder on our kids' faces when they see all the awesome animals :) Maybe we'll hit the zoo today - lucky for us our (non-free) zoo is just a few blocks away!
ReplyDeleteI am so jealous of your free zoo!! How awesome that you can go whenever you like, and for only as long as everyone is happy. It looks like cb really likes it there. He was totally building his own zoo in those last photos!
