cabin fever cured!

...well, for one afternoon at least!

last week, my sweet sixteen year-old cousin and i took choi boy to a local rec center to check out their leisure pool. the pool is fantastic with lots of rad features that make it more than just any ol' indoor pool. it was my first time taking choi boy swimming, so as wonderful as the pool is, i was unsure of how he would react.

i had to coax him into standing in the water.

i told him it was just like his beloved bathtub, only MUCH bigger.

he got a little brave and let go of my cousin's hand so he could explore a bit.

and then he gave us his verdict.

you wanna know what he thought?

Photobucket
he thought it was AWESOME!

like, totally totally awesome.

then he got really brave and wanted to go into the deeper area. so we put a swim vest on him and ventured in. my cousin had to hold on extra tight because cb was being a little *too* brave!
Photobucket

and what was the first thing he wanted to do?
Photobucket
taste it, natch!

after the photo opp, both of us shrieked, "noooo!!!" everytime he tried to drink the water. which was a lot.

choi boy loved it so much, he tried to dunk his head in the water!!
Photobucket
(while drinking it, of course.)

he even enjoyed a trip down the mini waterslide (which was REALLY fast!).

i think we've got a little fishy on our hands!

p.s. this will be one of the last posts where you get to see cb's long, flowing locks. we took a trip to the salon today for his first american haircut, and it's BAD. :( post to come soon, i promise!

  1. You've got a little fish! That will make your summers so much fun. I can't believe he was sticking his face in the water, it takes a while for the kids to get comfortable with that.

  8. How fun! So glad he loved it! Great that your cousin went so that you could take lots of pictures! :) The tongue - priceless!

Sorry to hear about the haircut. Hugs. The good thing - it's hair, it'll grow. It'll just be annoying until then!

  11. Way to go Choi Boy, you little dare devil, you! I love that he is so comforable with the water. We just tried the pool and slide with E last weekend...and not so much. Oh well...

And the hair...ugh. Remember E's first haircut? B. A. D.! And his hair was so much like Choi Boy's...rockin' thick and long. Now I think I have the cuts down. Thank goodness.

    Thank goodness it grows, right?

    Happy weekend!

  13. Wow! Choi Boy is a fan of the water, huh?! Spencer, not so much. I actually have a photo that is about as opposite as you can get from this ... so as much as CB LOVES it, S DID NOT.

  14. The photos are awesome! I just love the one where he determines the pool is great. What a smile! Looks like you've definitely got a little swimmer on your hands. Too funny that he kept trying to drink the water. Ben does that with the bath tub all the time. I think it is so gross!!

  15. You will have so much fun with CB now that you know he is a water baby! And such a cool pool too - wish ours had a slide. sigh. I can't believe he didn't mind the chlorine!

  16. Woo hoo! CB likes water, bring on summer! That, to me, is HUGE!!! I'm so impressed that he immediately took to it. Way to go, brave fish-y!

  17. YAY! Another big time fishy! Such happiness on CB's face!!
Little D LOVES the water too...he always has. Even last summer (when he was just about CB's age) he was sticking his face in the water every chance he got. Every time we go in the water he smiles and cheers the whole time. I'm signing him up for swimming lessons next week.
