TWO!!!!
twoday (haha) my sweet little boy turns TWO.
what a difference a year makes! on choi boy's first birthday, we were pining for and missing our son. a year later, we are thrilled to celebrate not only our boy's 2nd birthday, but also almost 9 months home together!
over these last (almost) 9 months, it has been such a JOY to watch choi boy grow and learn and become the amazing two year-old that he is today. we love him more than we thought was possible...he has stretched and grown our hearts and everyday, we fall even more deeply in love with him. we are utterly grateful that God truly knew exactly what He was doing when He led us on our journey to choi boy. with each day, we marvel at the privilege we have of parenting cb and giggle and coo over how stinkin' cute and hilarious he is.
i mean, come on...look at him!
:)
i could (seriously) go on and on about all that i adore about my son, but i'll spare you the total gush fest and just share a select few.
at TWO...
*choi boy is busy, busy, BUSY. he loves to explore and is so curious about just about anything. he is a little too adventurous for my sanity and has no qualms about jumping/flying from place to place. and because of this, cb has absolutely no patience or time for the camera.
*cb is a TOTAL goofball. we knew this about him from the get-go, but oh boy, with some newly acquired skills and words, he's taken it to a whole new level. cb has several different fake laughs that he uses for different purposes and he loves being silly.
i will happily submit this photo for his senior year yearbook when he is voted "class clown". :)
*choi boy has developed a crazy love of sweets. we tried to hold off on the sugar for as long as we could, but with the hubs and i both being major dessert lovers, it was inevitable that cb would be exposed to the sweet stuff sooner than later. his most recent sweet obsession? (heavily diluted) apple juice. it pains me that cb wants juice all day long because we try to be a water family (minus some (okay, maybe more than some) caffeinated drinks), but my mom says it's payback since i pretty much lived on apple juice from years 2-4. as in, i refused to eat or drink anything else. ;)
but, my goodness, the way cb says "apple juice" is just so darn cute i can't help but give in. i'm a total sucker.
and apparently, i am also very annoying with my incessant questioning. jeepers!
*remember when i said cb was beginning to put two words together? well, it seems he was just flirting with two word sentences all summer. we'd hear a phrase here and there, but they were really few and far between. well, at the end of august (the 27th, to be precise), choi boy woke up, started spewing off two word phrases and hasn't stopped since. as in, he talks nonstop all.day.long. and now that he's really and truly putting words together? he's very bossy. many of his two word phrases tend to be commands directed at umma and appa. it's rather hilarious. ;)
*along with the talking, we are seeing lots more of cb's desire for autonomy. he wants to try and do everything by himself. and we are happy to let him try,
especially since when things don't go so well on his try, he is (usually) happy to ask for "hup, peez!"
*i think one of my favorite things about our sweet boy is that he is just that...sweet. coupled with all the independent and adventurous spirit is an incredible sweetness. cb is such a loving little guy who doles out hugs and kisses by the dozen and also loves to take care of his "babies".
melts my heart!
as i said, i really could go on and on and on because we just love choi boy to bits and are still so tickled by the fact that we are blessed with the honor of being his umma and appa.
yes, it is certainly a teeny bit sad that our baby is no longer a baby,
and from this angle he looks like a tween!
but more than anything, today we celebrate our son and praise God that we have the honor of calling choi boy our son. and we thank God for the all the people that made that happen because of their sacrifice...they are not forgotten today and we hope that somehow they know just how loved and cherished choi boy is.
*happy birthday, cb! we love you SO much!*

Oh the 2's! Have fun everyone!;) Seriously - lots of fun times to come - it is amazing watching our little ones grow from "babies" to toddlers - a blessing for sure.
ReplyDeleteWow! Two years old! Happy birthday, CB! I am impressed how long you held out from giving CB apple juice. That is one of Benny's favourite beverages, and has been for a long time. It doesn't help that his older brother always left his sippy cups laying around the house for free sampling! That last photo is freaky how old CB looks! What a little personality. A blessing through and through.
ReplyDeletehe looks so~~~~ big in the last picture.
ReplyDeleteHappy belated to CB! He does look soooo big in that last shot (and so much like Little D...yikers!). If he is anything like D...is one of his favorite two-word sentences, "RIGHT NOW!" ??? D has added a couple more words to that demand...like "Read book Mama, RIGHT NOW!" or "Taste strawberry, RIGHT NOW, Mama!" etc... We hear it all day long. Working HARD on "please,"...some day, right?! Your boy is growing up and getting cuter by the day. YAY!
ReplyDeletei'm so behind on your blog! but happy belated birthday to your cb! what a wonderful little 2 year old you have! love that the only letter he knows is "G"! hee!
